Hello! I know that a lot of colleges are starting to use ipads for textbooks, so I was wondering if that's the same thing with UCSD? I understand that most students use hard textbooks, but I was wondering if I could purchase e-textbooks onto my ipad at ucsd or is ucsd strictly restricted to just regular textbooks?

I don't know if this question is making any sense, but please answer back if you can! Thanks!

I used e-books as often as possible, though they were never really referenced by the prescribing professors.

Professors (well, ones that aren’t being contracted by publishers or aren’t writing the textbooks themselves) won’t care whether or not your book comes in print or electronic form as long as you have reliable access to the material.

You might have to do a bit of searching for them online, but if you can use e-book as well as you can print, then by all means go for it. I, personally, did it to save paper/space, but nothing ever beat being able to highlight and quickly jot down notes while reading. I love both my Kindle and iPad, but having to type things out sometimes really distracts from efficient reading – especially when you’re reading loads of dense material, like research articles.

This is great! I’ve wanted a Nook and this is a good way to justify getting it now. I’ve never liked writing in books because I hate defacing them (can you tell I’m a writer?), so taking notes externally is perfectly fine with me. What a wonderful idea! Thanks!
