Hello,
I was recently notified that my application to UCSD's Fall 2011 Biochem Program will be put on hold pending a GRE retake. Has anybody ever heard of such a thing? Also, has anybody heard of the outcomes on such a notice?

what were your scores? they could really care less about what students get as long as quantitative and verbal are 650+. one of the staff members told me that all the 800s are earned by international students anyway.

however, if you’re missing the score report, then they can’t really consider your application in full – it’s not fair to those who have prepared a complete dossier.

GRE retake? Please elaborate: did you get below departmental minimums? Did you cancel a score? Not submit scores to UCSD? Did you mention a pending retake on the UCSD graduate application website?

I’m assuming it’s probably the latter and that you’re on some shortlist of candidates and they’re nearing invitations for open house weekend.

Hello,
thank you for the response and I apologize for the “lack of information”. My scores were very low, 340 A and 560 qu. Yes, I had planned retaking it anyway and have been told to shoot for the 50th percentile or higher,ok. But the feedback I got was what I posted and was looking for anybody’s comment on it.

Hello
thank you for the reply. I recently received an email concerning my application and it stated, the slots have not been filled yet but if not by a cut off date my application will be accepted. I guess this is based off my low GRE scores. In reality I was expecting to be considered for the MS program.
