UCSD Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Is anyone else a Comp Sci major?

@AceIsMy_HikingPuppy It wasn’t that funny!! Lol.

For me, it’s UCLA>UCI>UCSB>UCB>UCSD
I really want to stay local to the LA area.
Comparative Literature major.
Literary Journalism for UCI

Political Science major here and I am UCSD>UCLA>UCI

For me it’s UCLA>USC>UCB> UCSD

My preferences out of the schools I applied for are UCD> UCSC> UCSD> UCSB

I’m an ecology major, attracted to Davis because it’s globally ranked at #7 for ecology programs

@kristinpete I plan to go to grad school for computational linguistics/ai and UCSD’s cog sci and UCLA’s comp sci + ling is like my best bet for that.
UCSB ling with tech emphasis has a lot of really great classes specifically in computational linguistics and there’s some rad study abroad options. (plus i have a lot of friends there.) UCI’s cog sci is mostly focus on psych which is cool but thats why its my bottom.
UCSD is also close to home and being able to go back as much as I need to is really important to me.

For me is UCB = UCLA > UCSD > UCI

My preferences are UCLA>UCB=UCD>UCSD>UCI>UCSB>UCSC (Japanese major hoping to double in ling)
I’m from Berkeley so it’d be easiest for me to commute if I went to UCB, but I really liked UCLA when I went to visit a few months ago and it became my top choice haha

I haven’t spent much time in socal before so I’d really like to try living there for a change!

Interesting. Mine: UCSD>UCI>UCSB>UCD>UCSC

Human Bio and Pre-med

For me it’s
Usc> Ucla> UCSD > UCSB > UCI

CS applicant for UCSD here, @AceIsMy_HikingPuppy. UCSD would be great but I’m really leaning towards UCLA CSE or Berkeley EECS if I get accepted because of the EE coursework. I’m really into low-level programming and hardware hacking as well as standard software dev stuff. It would be great to be around people with similar interests.

preferences:
UCB EECS > UCLA CSE > UCSD CS > GTech CS > UCI CSE = UCSB CS = CSULA CS

Yes, UCSD is only like an hour and some change away from my home. But the parking permit is so ridiculously overpriced. I just looked it up and it’s like $780 per year.

Anyone else planning to keep their car on campus, if y’all end up choosing to go to UCSD?

For me it is:

UCSD > UCLA > UCB > UCI >UCD >UCSC

@Left_hand UCLA and UCB are great for comp sci majors but the people I know that go there have seriously scared me away from it. I applied to UCLA because my CC Honors Program has connections with them, but I don’t think I’d go there for any STEM or even get in honestly lol.

UCSD and UCI have been the only schools that felt welcoming and like a home away from home. I am really regretting not applying to UCD tbh. I’ve heard great things about them and helping women in the STEM field.

@kristinpete Pre-med here as well!!

I got accepted for transfer at UCSD last year and my decision came at around 6:30-7:00 P.M. the day before Cal released decisions. Considering Cal releases transfer decision tomorrow, to stay consistent with previous years, UCSD should release decisions right now. Has anyone received anything yet?

I haven’t gotten anything here @AGuyWithAFry

ahh I got no status update either
