UCSD Master of Pacific International affairs

I'm looking into the MPIA program as a possibility for graduate school. How is the job placement? My interests lie in international trade, finance, and economics ( particularly within East Asia). People have told me a MSc Finance degree would be best, but I'm afraid that leads only to careers in IB and such, something I'm not to keen to pursue. I think I might like working in fields such as Export Financing, or negotiating contracts between suppliers and buyers across continents. I am mainly wondering if the MPIA degree is too policy oriented such that I can only find government jobs, or whether private sector companies value the broad curriculum.

RE: job placement…you really should just contact the department and ask them for that information. Additionally, they should have information re: the current placement of recent graduates. That can give you an indication as to whether graduates pursue government vs private sector careers
