UCSD Naked Final Exam

If someone signs up for a class, then realizes as the semester goes on that he or she doesn’t want to take the finals because the Professor grades hard and the fellow students are opinionated and make too much noise in class, should they be able to make that into a national headline? If I were the professor I would just fail them and move on.

The professor is a performance artist. When the press came calling, I have a feeling he was elliptical in his description of the class just with an impish desire to see what would happen.

I really hope that’s true, CF lol

It seems like part of the performance art element would be a stark realization that the naked body, most of the time, is not very sexy. Bodies just standing around and doing what most people do all day aren’t all that attractive most of the time. They’re kind of awkward except for the few most fabulous people. I once saw a photo shoot similar to some of the things that Dove does where women took two photos, one in a classically alluring pose (still SFW) and one just standing there. When they posed in the ways with backs curved and whatnot they created that allure through their attitudes and artificial curves. Just standing there with arms hanging and everything else hanging they weren’t conventionally attractive. It was a really interesting artistic lesson in how beauty is created. Berkeley Naked Guy, while having a fabulous body, is also pretty awkward looking doing normal every day things naked.

OK - I found it. I’m not going to post the link because I don’t know if it’s allowed but it’s a Daily Mail article written my Margot Peppers December 2013

The class was designed 11 years ago. Is it still appropriate for today’s students? According to the sylllabus, sessions 7 and 8 discuss Gender as Self and Erotic Self. Can any student take the class regardless of his/her sexual orientation, body weight, body look,…?

^ Why wouldn’t they be able to?

Even if part of the grade was for attractiveness, that’s no more intrinsically unfair than the calculus class that favors intelligence.

I heard some of the students “barely” passed. <ok, i’m="" outta="" here.=""></ok,>

Where did it say ANYTHING about attractiveness as part of the grade?
