Hi, I need some help deciding between UC San Diego and University of Notre Dame.

UCSD (Sixth College, Computer Engineering)
Pros: Close to home, ranked higher for undergraduate engineering (from US News and World Report)
Cons: Many students (I prefer a smaller school)

Notre Dame
Pros: Less students, better overall ranking (from US News and World Report)
Cons: Far from home, cold weather (I'm from SoCal, and I'm not a big fan of cold weather)

I have visited Notre Dame many times (My dad went there, and he will be pushing me to go to ND without a doubt), and I will visit UCSD in a few weeks.

Any advice?

hehe i think u should go to UCSD
it’s cheaper and like u said it has a higher ranking in ur major
also it’s closer to ur house!! so u can see ur FRIENDS and family more often Hahaha i think it’s just better if it’s closer to home so in case anything happens.
so i would choose UCSD and i thought overall UCSD is higher ranked i donno~~~

visit UCSD, then go with your gut feeling.

you’re bound to find more pro-UCSD folks on this forum and vice versa on the ND forum, there really aren’t any unbiased resources out there …

Haha yeah I kind of figured that, so I posted this on both of the forums.

It really depends on money, if that isn’t an issue I would say Notre Dame. The campus is amazing, there is great school pride and spirit (unlike UCSD), rich history ect.

Are you going to grad school? If not, the name “Notre Dame” may have more weight for employers back east/in the midwest, whereas a UCSD degree may look better in Southern California. Summer internships and jobs may also be easier to get in Southern California if you go to UCSD.

ucsd if you want grad school

if not than i would prob say ND; the traditions, sports, and campus are all supreme

You should go to Notre Dame if cost is not an issue…
