Omg pho ur right there’s a bajillion things overlaping each other! Guess I’ll wing it too D:

So, who was at Transfer Admit day?

I was! :D

10char

@ hello

i was too and it totally got me all hyped and excited. so i pretty much dont care about usc anymore. did u feel the same?

i love usc, hope to get in their pharm program!!

anywaysss, i went toooooo!

hey nymphz did i manage to do those bajillion things on the agenda? haha. i only went to the main presentation, marshall presentation, and the housing tour…i think walking took up the majority of my time lol

haha noooo i went to the housing tour… and fell asleep during the presentation about my major LOL somehow spent near 1 or 2 hours there! i think it was all the walking also!! i came late like an idiot because my driver drove us to USD ! the ticket lady had to ask us… ‘are you at the right school?’ say whaaaaaaaaaaat

or that SDSU school no idea…

i <3 the village. Oh and Marshall College <3

The second presentation at Marshall was a lot more informative than the first one.

@iluvpho yeah i dont really check my usc status anymore. Although i’d still love to get in Usc, im pretty much set on ucsd. Haha!

I love marshall too! It was so sad i didnt go to the 2nd presentation. I only went to the 1st one. Anyone from Marshall, fill me in please?

after visiting UCSD and talking to staff, I am also leaning towards UCSD.
I am going to visit Cal this weekend and make my final choice.

I went to transfer admit day and I thought it was overall very informative. I am an econ major in marshall and it seems like they are on point with everything they had to say regarding the major. The one thing that turned me off was their lack of knowledge about banking and finance opportunities for the economics major…they seemed to stress about how much theory we were going to learn instead of its practicality–but then again, it is an econ major.

After checking out their career services website it seems that econ students are at a huge disadvantage, in terms of getting into ibanking but there are a good amount of finance and accounting opportunities out there if you’re willing to go out there and put in your due diligence. Nonetheless, like anything in life, it seemed like the UCSD representatives were stressing going out and learning to catch a fish rather than having it fed on your plate.

The transfer housing, in my opinion, was a bit small but then again Im used to having my own room so it will be an adjustment. My tour guide was a fruitcake…he confirmed my vision of a stereotypical San Diego kid…geeky, anal, etc…

I’m from LA so I get a whole different vibe being down there in SD.

Overall, I know a lot of people, including myself, are going to UCSD by default because they didn’t get into LA or CAL but it seems to me that UCSD has all the resources necessary to become a successful student, and professional later in life. If you’re willing to put in work, then it shouldn’t matter what school you go to. For all the naysayers out there who constantly flame SD, future transfers, please, don’t listen to them. Go out to the campus and check it out yourself and see if it fits you just right.

~To each is own.

@nymph
wow that sucks…i picked up my cousin (almunus) who lives 5 min away and he was our personal tour guide lol
yea it was liek 11 when we got there and after 2 presentations it was like 1 pm -.-

@hello
yea i am exactly in your position lol. i stayed for both presentation @ marshall. the 2nd presentation just talked about how marshall admins will keep their students up to date on classes. even though our date to register for classes is in august, they told us that there will be seats on reserved only for transfers so we dont have to worry. talekd about the 2 breadths (need to take 1 class outside our major and 1 upper writing class). hm cant really remember what else but those seem to be the 2 important topics. also ucsd needs to have any docs (hs, college transcripts, ap’s) by july 15th. basically they jsut made us feel VERY welcomed. i enjoyed it

@depenn
did u go to the econ department orientation? i completely forgot about it lol was it informative?

^^ so basically we only have to take 2 courses required for marshall?

that is if you got igetc certified and finsihed all your lower dive pre-requisites, yes you only have to take two more classes(plus your upper div classes) to graduate for marshall

what was the name of that Jessica chick at the Muir info session?

ERC and Revelle don’t even accept the IGETC, right?

they do but u gotta take additional classes

If you do TAG & IGETC and are in Revelle, then all of the GEs are waived except for Calculus, Natural Science, and the Foreign Language requirement.
