So I got into SDSU and Marshall college at UCSD for a philosophy major. Which has the better philosophy program? I want to go to law school. UCSD seems great but I heard that there is no social life there whereas, in SDSU, I would have a lot more fun. Which should I choose?
I don’t know how or why this “socially dead” stereotype to UCSD is perpetually repeated but… okay. If you’re looking for a very active social environment with lots of partying, you can probably find both paths at either school. SDSU will obviously have more chances for those experiences. Not sure why and I’m choosing not to fall into the “us vs. them” mentality of snobbish behavior but it is what it is. You will have a social life at UCSD if you choose to have one. It isn’t that difficult.
If you want to have fun, pick whichever school seems like it is a better fit for you. SDSU is on semester, UCSD is quarter system. I’m a UCSD student so I’m obviously going to say our programs are great. But if you’re looking to just have fun before law school… you can decide from there.
We have a very highly rated Philosophy program anyway. If you want to party at SDSU just take an uber honestly
Thanks for the reply. I do want a good education, don’t get me wrong, but I have heard a lot of negatives, even from friends who visit. They say the atmosphere is cold and gloomy. I am not much of a partier but I do want to be active and have a social life. Part of my college experience is that I want to have fun. I clearly have a lot to consider. I will take what you said to heart.
