@JEFF2015 Most of our online courses have modules that open for a week at a time (there are exceptions). You can complete the work in the module anytime during the week.
@stillabeauty17 Our understanding is no, you cannot reapply for the spring IF you are a UF student. If you decline the offer then what college you may decide to apply to in the future is up to you. I would check with Admissions for further details on how a second application would be viewed. Currently, PaCE is only offered each fall (no Spring PaCE offers will be made at this time).
Is the PaCE program available in the Summers? (2016)
Also,
I am coming to Gainesville tomorrow to ask more questions. I have the day off. Where do I go to ask about
PaCE? Which Bldg?
Okay, so we got into this program because there aren’t enough spaces in the lower-level classes. Then why are we being excluded from campus life?
When I think of college I don’t imagine sitting in a room on a computer all day with no opportunities for social interaction because I can’t go to activities such as sporting events, use the rec center, etc.
Here’s a proposal that I think would make this program a lot more appealing:
So the reason we can’t be apart of those things is because we aren’t paying a fee? I’ll pay the fee I’m sure everyone here would be willing to pay the fee. It almost feels like you want my money but you don’t want me. I feel too excluded from UF I want to feel like a real student here and being apart from everyone on campus like this just doesn’t do that for me and I’m sure others would agree as well.
Providing PaCe students opportunities outside our course work online would make this decision so much easier (YES), however, this exclusion is making it quite difficult.
@JEFF2015 PaCE will be starting in fall. There will be no summer 2015 admission. This is a pilot program and we have not made any commitments for fall 2016 (or summer 2016).
I would suggest you stop in Admission (Criser Hall). I would also suggest you call first.
I am with you 100% I would love to be able to participate in Rec Sports so I can meet people.
If, I am online all the time, I will need a break.
I meant that I was accepted for PaCE, but I was wondering if I could reapply for spring without accepting the PaCE o offer for the fall? Assuming that I could, and got accepted, I would be able to attend UF without PaCE? Or is it not a possibility for someone to reapply to UF in general for another term?
@emlong I understand your frustration in regard to all the “other” stuff that you would like to do on campus. As you may realize the campus is bursting at the seams in certain areas (not just the classroom). We are continuing to look into the ability of PaCE students to pay fees but at this time PaCE students will not be paying many of the fees that residential studies do.
@Stillabeauty17 You can decline PaCE and not accept an offer from UF. I would contact admissions regarding reapplying to UF at a future date.
Thank you!
Has anyone received their PaCE packet in the mail. My acceptance said it would be sent out in a few days. Just curious.
Hi everyone, I was accepted to the PACE program as well. When I saw it it was like rejection to me because I know that I was so close to get in yet I didn’t. Mentally it’s extremely hard to imagine myself staying home and taking online courses when I could be out enjoying college in a ‘normal’ environment (not to mention my parents are completely opposed to the idea of taking online courses). But of course I’m weighing my options because FSU and UF are the only schools that had my desired major (Dietetics) (and the only colleges I had any interest in) and the only ones I applied to so far. @UFOnline I don’t understand why I would want to do the PACE program when I could go to my local state college and acquire my AA degree (60 credits) (which would be free for me because of Bright Futures) and then transfer anywhere I want in the state because with an AA degree from a state college in Florida you can transfer wherever you want and they have to accept you. My main question though is what really are the positives of the program because I really wanted to club/recreational soccer and join clubs but I’ve read that I couldn’t even do that. I can see that this would be a good option for someone with like half their credits almost done but I only have three credits from one of the AP test I’ve passed and I would still have 57 credits to do! Now I am taking 8 AP courses this year (equivalent to 32 credits) and I’m trying to do the impossible by passing all of them but I won’t know whether or not I have until the summer, way past the deadline for the program. Thank you for taking your time to read, I know it’s long lol.
And @JEFF2015 I got mine in the mail today. I haven’t looked at it in depth yet because it still sort of upsets me but It pretty much just said everything UF’s website said about the program.
@mgcsoccer. Congrats on the PaCE offer! With an AA degree UF does not have to accept you as a transfer student. You would need to apply as a transfer student to UF. In PaCE you are guaranteed enrollment on the UF campus once you reach 60 credits.
Intramural sports/rec center can be done while in PaCE. This is a new FAQ:
Q: Can PaCE students use the on-campus Rec Centers?
A: Since PaCE students in UF Online do not pay the Activity and Services fees, they do not have automatic access to the Rec Centers. However currently enrolled PaCE students can purchase a non-fee paying student membership each semester in order to use the on-campus Rec Centers. More information is available here: http://www.recsports.ufl.edu/about/membership-services/students/.
As the FAQ says, you can also join clubs.
@UFOnline Thank you for clarifying but I don’t know how I would be able to do those activities anyway because I live too far from Gainesville to travel weekly to participate in them. Also what I meant when regarding getting an AA degree was if I had exceptional grades at the state college I was at and I took all the prerequisites for my chosen major, I believe I would have a high change of getting in as a transfer student, and then be able to apply for housing and such?
@mgcsoccer97 You always have the option of living in Gainesville, just not in UF dorms, while being a PaCE student.
As far as your potential success in being accepted at UF as a transfer, that will depend on your grades and the major that you are interested in. That is not possible to really know until you have taken all your courses and have your AA, if you decide to decline the PaCE offer.
Okay, well so many things to consider! I really appreciate you answering all my questions.
@mgcsoccer97 Thanks for the info.
If you really want to go to UF, i see no harm in being in the PaCE program.
@butleraa133 Are you a UF student currently? Or just accepted to PaCE?
