UF vs UNC chapel hill biomedical engineering

Hey guys I’m in the situation where I have to pick to transfer to UNC Chapel or UF. I’m trying to make the right decision so if anyone can help me choose which one is the best school and which one has more opportunities (research,…). I will have to spend almost the same amount to attend either one, UF might be $1000-$2000 cheaper. Also, I want to go to med school after. I would be glad if you can help me

UF only lets a few (if any) transfer students into it’s Biomedical engineering program. It’s a very selective program, fairly small, and very well funded/supported. You can find several video’s online on UF"s program (on YouTube, etc.).

UNC’s program is done as a partnership with NC State (which is the engineering school, versus UNC’s liberal arts). Not sure how that works, but research opportunities, I would, think are plentiful.

Nothing jumps out that says one over the other. Both are great choices.

Good Luck!

Thx for your reply @Gator88NE. Do you know their rankings in term of BME??

I don’t think either school’s undergraduate program is ranked (US News only ranks about 22 programs). However, I think they are both fine (for undergraduate).

UF is very much more an “engineering” school than UNC (which is why UNC’s program is in partnership with NC State), but I’m not sure how much that would matter when comparing Biomedical engineering programs.
