Hi, I'm new on this site, but I would love to find some opinions from other people about the international affairs program for UGA and Georgia Tech.

I've been accepted to both schools for early admission, but now I'm having the difficulty of choosing where exactly I would like to go. However, in addition to the international affairs program, I know I want to have a career involving some aspect of journalism.

I'm aware that Tech has a strong academic curricula, but now I'm thinking that I'm not exactly sure if the school is a right fit for a girl who is heavily dedicated to liberal arts. But I also know that Tech has a cluster elective course in which I can take journalism classes with Georgia State.

As for UGA, I know for sure that the journalism program is outstanding but I haven't heard much about the international affairs program there.

I would also like to consider job opportunities after graduation. Such as, would a company be more inclined to hire someone who graduated from Tech or UGA?

:/ I really need some advice. Please help me out if you can!

UGA is your best bet b/c of it’s journalism program and it’s national recognition. Also, Tech is more focused on technology and engineering so the chance of being recruited for int’l studies is minimal.

Well, my personal answer for INTA (though for fair warning I am a Tech student) is Tech. This is not as much because the program is alot better and what not, but your grade will put you in like the top 5% on a school wide basis where as with UGA you will have a lower comparable GPA. Though I will say my sis went thru INTA at UGA and liked it – she is now going to law school.

Overall, if Journalism is a huge passion, I have no clue what the Tech dual enrollment program is like. That was just my two cents for the International Affairs issue.

in case others have similar questions: Georgia Tech also has courses that would be good for those who want a strong background in journalism.

Another one of the majors offered at GT is Science, Technology, and Culture which includes many media, communication, literature, and writing based courses.
