Ugh, Kaplan reading!

So, I took my first kaplan reading practice test. It was definitely really hard, I averaged about -2 to -3 on each section, and the worst thing was....when 35 min was up, I didn't even get to the last passage! Gah.

If you keep practicing, does speed improve? Also, anyone have any tips for the non-humanities passages (science-y passages). The fiction passages are most interesting so I tend to remember more, while the science based passages are kind of boring with no story and tons of facts.

Thanks everyone!

Speed definitely improves with practice. Also, it depends how well of a reader you are too; the trick to acing the reading section is to read the questions first. Unless the passage is complicated or wordy, I suggest you skim through, underlining anything that might come in handy when answering questions. The Kaplans practice tests are real stressers, and are often much more difficult than the actual ACT, so I wouldn't be too worried. :)

Good-luck!

kaplan's reading passages are notoriously longer than the real act tests... so if you can get your timing down on kaplan, then the real thing should be a breeze (that's how it worked for me at least)
