Basically, I made a huge mistake and applied to UIUC's business school instead of engineering and still got in (switched intended majors a bit too late). Likewise, I was also accepted to Ohio State for engineering. Both colleges end up similar in price with scholarships and financial aid so cost/distance are not an issue.

What would be a better option for me to attend for a potential Computer Science major?

Would it be better if A.) Attended UIUC and try to transfer into the engineering program after my freshman year or B.) Attend Ohio State and major in Computer Science & Engineering

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely B.

I mean, UIUC is the better program for sure, but I don’t think it really matters that much for undergrad. You can get a great job in CS from even a no-name school if you have the right skills (and for the record Ohio State is a respectable university too).

On the other hand, you can go to UIUC and if they don’t let you transfer, you’re totally screwed. I don’t think its worth the risk.

Thanks. Bump please

No need to bump; he gave you the right answer - the only answer. It is very, very difficult to transfer into engineering at most schools, including Illinois. You are better off going to OSU and then if you still are set on doing Illinois, trying to transfer from OSU engineering to Illinois engineering. At least then your fallback will be engineering still.
