UK student thinking of applying to American Universities

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, I'm new to this site!
But essentually i've just completed my Alevels [not sure of the conversion to American grades] getting A*AA in Government and Politics, History and Classics respectively. And I wish to study in the states and was wondering with these grades would i stand a shot at a top tier university?
if anyone has any advice on the Fee Structure and admissions procedure for an international chap, such as my self, it'd be much appreciated :)
Cheers :)

Start by reading through everything here: [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://educationusa.state.gov/)

Then make an appointment with the counselors at the advising center closest to where you live. If you can’t visit them in person, find out how much help they can give you by email or telephone. They are expert at helping students from your country find goof places to study in the US.

Those are fantastic A-levels! You definitely stand a chance, but you will most likely also need to take the SAT or ACT, which are standardized tests that most universities here require for admission, and write essays that are more rigorous than and pretty different from your typical UCAS personal statement. There’s a fairly useful article here[/url”>http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2012/04/08/college-i-thought-this-was-university/"]here about US university applications that’s targeted at towards international students and has more information.
