I don't understand why everyone on here is being so mean to the OP. It was your decision to read the first post or not; the OP posted specific information to get specific reccomendations. All information posted was pertinent to choosing a college, including the personality information. It's kind of hard to talk about your personality without sounding at least a little pretentious, really. OP, sorry I can't help you as I really know nothing about colleges myself. I think you will do well wherever you decide to go.

Falthor you are my hero ;)

I agree with everyone who attacked him. This is a website where you are supposed to do your research and know facts. Don't come into it thinking that everyone revolves around you. Your post is quite hilarious, but in the same breath alarming. You need to humble yourself a little bit more, and think before you post. Also, you are extremely lucky that you are Hispanic, because your unweighted GPA=SUCKS!!!!!

Shortiegirl, click on Falthor's profile and look at his previous chances thread. Pretentious is an understatement.

By the way, your guidance counselor clearly has no clue. Thank god for ethnicity.

I talked to my Guidance Counselor as school began, and here's what he said to me about every school I mentioned. He said, "Take the SAT one last time. If you do not get into the 600s with Critical Reading, then don't send your scores. If you do, send them along with your ACT. Your academic record is rigorous, your class rank is high, you're playing the Hispanic card, plus, your recommendation from me will be, I think, fantastic, wouldn't you agree?"––inside joke, kind of––"And overall, you're a great candidate for most of these schools. For those reach schools, I suggest you up your SAT to around 1900––we'll be reasonable––and your ACT to 32, and you'll do fine. Just up that Reading score on the SAT and the Science score on the ACT."

Was he correct?

Was he correct in what, Falthor? That you have a chance at these schools? Sure, you have a chance. Everyone does. You seem to want people on these threads to give you assurances that they simply can't give. None of us here are adcoms. We don't know. We have just humbly offered some perspective that your standardized test scores were low for some of the colleges that you were aiming for, and that if "taking it up from a 28 to a 32" were THAT easy to do, well, then wouldn't everyone do it?

What more do you want your guidance counselor to say? Your GPA is what it is. Your EC's are what they are. You can only improve your test scores so much. There's very little more to say.

My counselor said it best: "You should be a big fish in a small pond." That phrase immediately caused me to eliminate any college with over 10,000 undergrads. The only exceptions are, however, Honors programs at larger universities, e.g. Fordham, Maryland, and Providence.

BTW, I take your counselors' statement that "you should be a big fish in a small pond" to mean that you should look for a college in which you are the upper-end in terms of brains (therefore, you'll shine), versus trying to squeeze in on the lower-rung to colleges where the average student is going to have far higher standardized test scores.

troll amrite?

After reading your description...

Other pretentious people must orbit around your ridiculously large field of pretentiousness. I'm trying to picture it now...

Your self-description was quite hilarious. So much so that I felt compelled to create an account just to ask you to please fulfill your promise to add more if asked. You know, the amount of activities you have joined/started reminds me of the movie 'Rushmore'. Perhaps you are thinking of forming a Beekeeper Club next?

But in all seriousness, asking the helpful folks on here to look through your entire, longwinded academic portfolio and guide you accordingly is not going to yield any results really helpful to you. It's not necessary to attend an Ivy League school to recieve a great education, and what matters most is which college is a better fit for you. Sorry that I was in such a meanspirited mood a few moments ago, but I just couldn't hold it in...

Thanks for resurrecting this thread.

I'm dying to know, Falthor, where did you apply? Do you have any EA or ED answers yet?

haha I hope this isn't a joke thread, because if it is, I would think Jerry Seinfeld is really Falthor on college confidential! I love Seinfeld.........but so pointless.

there's not enough information to accurately chance you.

Well, considering that all of you wanted to know, here's what's up.

I reread my thread. I laughed. Hard. I was ignorant. Completely. It's not about the name; college is what you make of it. I now hate people who are so concerned with getting a degree from Harvard. Believe you me. So, I applied to the following schools all regular decision:

Very Nice! I skimmed this thread, and to be honest, I kinda wasn’t your biggest fan on the first two pages lol. However, on this third page you turned it around by, I guess you could say maturing. Congrats on both Colgate and BC, those are excellent schools to get into. You should be soo proud of yourself. I’m a little suprised that Bucknell rejected you, but it must have been a disconnect. Again, Congrats!

Good for you! Please come back with news on HC & W&M.
