It’s been a real long wait. Called admissions office yesterday about the outcome and was informed that decision will be out during this month !
It’s been a long, anxious wait
OOS connecticut, uw gpa 3.3, we don’t do weighted at my HS so idk what that would be but I would guess somewhere around 3.8, considering I’ve taken APs and many honors. ACT 22, SAT 1060, I’m so anxious about hearing back bc there’s no other schools I’ve applied to that I want to go to, and having to wait so long is stressing me out to no end. I put my major as biology but wish to change it if I get in, but would that major choice affect my chances?
I’m so frustrated! I called admissions today and they told me that they anticipated that they will be issuing admission decisions until “mid-late April”… How is that even fair or reasonable for kids to make decisions or go to accepted student days? I’ve not heard of any other school that does this. I also asked if there was a system or particular days as to when they issue decisions. He indicated that they update Spire “every few days or so” but had no idea when the next decisions would post.
They’re notoriously slow. I don’t see any excuse for it when so many other schools with upwards to 50,000 applicants already got back to most students by now.
I need to know if my best friend is being admitted or not so I can make roommate plans! She has higher stats than me and I don’t understand why it’s taking so long…
Well if you look at last years thread they were waiting until mid April, and most of them were waitlisted, the mid April ones. But who knows it could be tomorrow, so I am crossing my fingers. It is our first choice for my two sons. Another person said by end of month, which is only one more week so it has to be near the answer!! So hard to wait.
I am soooooooo sick of waiting! I just called the admissions office. They said they will be releasing the next batch of decisions today or tomorrow but that the process will continue until mid-LATE April. The waiting game is so frustrating!
It is tough to wait. These things just take time and I am sure they are overwhelmed with all the applications they received. Mid April is only a few more weeks.
My son applied the end of December, hasn’t heard anything. His thing is math and he has gone/is going to the Mass State Science Fair for 4 years, got a first place last year, went to the International Science Fair in Phoenix last year, GPA 3.87, is an Eagle Scout, 2nd degree black belt, active at church, 5 honor societies, works afterschool, his SATs were on the low side, 1230. He got a ROTC scholarship but it is only good at UMass. All he wants to do is to study math at UMass Amherst and be an army officer! Both of my older sons were admitted to and went to UMass with lower grades. I cannot believe that this is taking so long and it is making all of us really anxious.
i applied December 22nd and i still haven’t heard back. it’s really stressing me out and i don’t want to have to wait until the end of april to choose where to go to school! this is so frustrating
@motherofboys3 Your son is definitely going to get in. He has fantastic extra curriculars (im an eagle scout as well) and while his SAT might be low they will make up for it. His GPA is around what the average is for math so I wouldn’t worry. I got into CS Exploratory EA with a 3.35 and 1350 (Average: 4.1/ 1400) with some very good non academic extra curriculars and the computer science program is much more selective.
I have a quick questions; I applied for regular decision to the Isenberg school of management but I don’t know how that will work out with my stats. Is Isenberg the hardest school within umass amherst? I also picked the Management major from the school.
My stats are new SAT 1370 with GPA of 3.8 from New Jersey
I have quite a few extracurriculars and volunteers and decent rec letters
