Its seems maybe certain Majors have been mailed out while others have not. UMass only considers Math & Verbal SAT scores not Writing, I think you need to be at 1300 or higher to be considered for the Honors College. I applied to the Isenberg School of Management, has anyone got accepted to Isenberg yet? My stats are 1390 SAT, 4.15 Weighted GPA, 6 AP Classes. I am hoping I get in Honors College and get some type of Scholarship since I am out of state but you never know until you get the envelope. So many of my friends have been denied or deferred at other colleges, the schools were very selective top schools but these are really good students! Good Luck to everybody!
It does sound like honors college acceptances going out first From what I understood at visit they accept students from each major into honors college and try to keep it pretty evenly spread out. You may see a student with lower GPA from one major get in over kids with higher GPAs from another.
does anyone’s transcript type say “in progress”? And are anyone’s act score dates just the correct month but dated as the first of that month?
Also, for people who got accepted, is the spire still saying “under review” ?
@brett107, same here for the test scores so its normal
@brett107 My transcript and ACT also say that, so it’s fine like motortrend said.
Anyone else hear over the weekend?
After checking the SPIRE this morning, we learned that our son got accepted into PR-Engineering Commonwealth Honors. But we haven’t received any mail and have problem to view the letter online.
@Sean67208 Where does it say on the portal?
Thanks for the tip @Sean67208! I checked just now and it also said admitted into Engineering Honors too! It was weird though - had to log into SPIRE, then click on UMass home, then log in again to SPIRE, then it was the first page shown - but does not show under the “Application Status” which still says “Under Review” (!?) Also, no information about merit aid if applicable, though confirmed in-state costs.
p.s. no letter yet for us either.
I think they released the letters for people for Engineering Honors college…has anyone who applied to Isenberg heard yet?
@crowellk2016 - I don’t know about the letters; DS’s portal says admitted to Engineering Honors but we have not gotten any mail…maybe today? But we’re just outside of Boston so it shouldn’t take too long from Amherst!
Do you have to apply into the engineering honors college or do they just tell you if you get in?
@Elenabobena1 - you have to apply to Engineering but the Honors is something they just tell you.
I’m also in Mass so hoping it comes soon!
I’m in CT and was accepted today into the Mathematics program with $8000 scholarship per year (Chancellor’s Award). Portal has not been updated for me, I recieved the acceptance package in my mailbox
Any info on when EA applicants will hear back that DIDNT apply to the honors program
Is the Spire not working? Can’t log on. S has applied for Computer Engineering. Anxiously waiting for news!
All applicants are automatically considered for the honors program, there is no separate application. Seems like they’ve sent out honors before regular though @nikeluv
