I was accepted into the UMass Isenberg school of business. However, Before I even start my freshman year, I would like to change my major to psychology/Pre-Med. Would this be possible, or was there an a separate admissions process for Pre-med hopefuls?

It’s easy enough to change your major at UMass, and you can likely do this at your orientation when you sign up for classes. However, just so you know, “Pre-Med” is NOT a major…simply a set of requirements. There is no admissions process for pre-med. There is alot of dedication towards pre-med advising, and you can meet with faculty who advise students seeking to go to med school as far as what classes you should be taking that would fulfill most medical school prereqs, as well as what sorts of extracurriculars/research you should be getting yourself into.

I’m going to UMass Amherst for Pre-Med track.

Send an email to changes@admissions.umass.edu, I’d state your full name, admissions ID, current major, and politely ask to go from current major to desired.

I should fire off that same email, too. I’m in Pre-Medical Studies as a major, but switching to Biology.
