UMBC Decisions 2025

I am sorry I should have specified. All our “visits” to DC colleges and UMBC were basically walks around the campus just identifying buildings  . There was no indoor access. Green spaces and breaks in nature are important to my kid and she liked the campus for that. Of course, we could not get a sense of college atmosphere from that. Even though we live locally we had never visited the college. The only actual tour we have taken was at Loyola College, Baltimore. Just so she could experience at least one in-person real college tour in this strange admission year

Son was admitted. Anybody know about Honors College and merit awards?

based on last year’s thread, some got their merit award letters as early as January 1

ok i got an email yesterday saying that they have come to a descion but when i checked it was just them saying that they would let me know by the end of january. i think i was deferred but in the message they were saying how they loved that i applied early and they never said if i was being moved to the regular pool sooo im kinda confused

Hope you got admitted in January.

Anyone got their merit award? Scholarship?

Just logged into D21’s UMBC account and see that she is receiving a grit and greatness merit scholarship. Frustratingly though, we can’t see what the amount is. We don’t expect to hear about her CWIT application until January or later though.

DD logged in and saw the form for accepting or declining the Grit and greatness scholarship too but no details. Maybe details will show up later in the day.

Thank you HHasim. Tried that and see that her Grit and Greatness award is $5K/yr. The appreciation for the hard work our students put in matters as much as the financial award. Congratulations to all our kids.

I’m in-state and received the excellence award, a $9000/year scholarship. That would essentially cover the full cost of tuition.

Stats:
1450 SAT (780 R&W, 670 Math)
4.0 Unweighted/4.8 Weighted
3 Dual Enrollments
9 APs
Very good letters of rec
Strong essays

Congratulations AndrewRadz. You basically got max merit award for in state!

Son got the in-state Academic Excellence. $9K per year. I guess that’s close to full tuition.

Sorry. Put the wrong emoji by mistake. Meant to say congratulations and thumbs up. So new to this. Anyone know how to delete this.

My son in state as well also received the Academic Excellence award. $9k year which is close to full tuition.

Has anyone heard from Scholarship programs- CWIT, Sondheim, Humanities scholars etc. about acceptances? Thanks.

Not yet. Based on the past few years, the invitation for an event/interview for scholars program was sometime in early Feb.

Thank you

Yes. My daughter heard from Sondheim a few days ago.
