I am an incoming freshman attending UMD in the fall and have received my housing assignment and am in Queen Anne’s Hall located on North hill. Does anyone know if this dorm is for freshman or mixed freshman/sophomores ect… I have heard that most freshman are on North Campus and am concerned that I will not be able to make friends with other freshman in my residence hall.
Lucky you! Queen Anne is a really nice dorm and in a perfectly central location on campus! I’d say mix it’s a mix of students, because of learning community assignments such as Jiminez Porter writer’s house in your dorm, and honors humanities in Anne Arundel in the dorm next door, there are a fair number of freshmen both in your dorm and immediate area.
It’s definitely a mix. I’d say Queen Anne’s is mostly freshmen and sophomores. Hang out in the lounge and keep your room’s door wide open when you’re in it so it’s easier to run into people and make friends. Also, go to clubs and don’t be afraid to talk to people in your classes (like discussion sections/smaller classes like ENGL101 or COMM107).
