Back when the application was open, my child applied to live at Lakeside village. Like many people, he did not get in. He then added himself to the waitlist which reserved him a room in Eaton. Because he wants to live in an apartment (not dorms) he has chosen to live off-campus, which means he must drop out of Eaton. My issue is that we are completely loosing the $500 deposit that we paid with the intention of living in the Lakeside Village. According to my child, the Lakeside Village application and assignment process was an absolute mess and had so many issues. The housing department was also very unclear and unorganized. I am frustrated that we are loosing this deposit for absolutely nothing (except a headache) in return. Is anyone else is in a similar situation or have any thoughts on this topic?
Have you asked for your deposit to be refunded?
Yes. Housing said that since he has a room reservation in Eaton the deposit can not be refunded.
