Has anyone taken the Chinese test? If so, what is the format? And, is there actual hand writing involved or is it typing?
Thanks!

I took it a few years ago, and I remember a hand written section, reading, and oral exam. There was no typing when I took it.
Ah ok thanks!
Do you mind shedding light on how difficult it was? Because quite frankly I feel I’ll do fine with reading and oral but writing is my weakness… Will my test just not be graded if I used mostly pinyin?
There are different tests for native and non-native speakers. I took the native speaker test and found it difficult, but my Chinese is pretty poor. You should contact the department regarding the pinyin question – I don’t know how they would grade that.
My son took it this past Monday. He couldn’t write a single word. There is written requirement. I guess he bombed. Luckily he is in Ross, so he chose not to do foreign language.
I just took it. And honestly it was less horrifying than I thought. Anyway, thank you all for your replies!
