I plan on getting a degree in computer science within these respective engineering schools. I received a scholarship for around half aid at UMich (Bell Scholarship) and no aid at Princeton. Does the extra 100K for Princeton Engineering really make a difference for recruiting/jobs/graduate school in the computer science field?

No it does not. Not for engineering. Save your money and go to Michigan.

Dangit, you’re one of the lucky few who got one of the Bell Scholarships. I applied, but didn’t get it. Congrats! Anyways, both institutions are excellent for computer science. Michigan has a stronger overall engineering department though. It would not make much of difference of which of the two, as computer science degrees are in high demand. In the last COE employment report, CS was the most requested degree by recruiters. Given the huge cost difference, I would recommend Michigan. Have you visited both schools?

Congrats for earning the Bell Scholarship at Michigan. If you are interested in a computer or engineering career, Michigan actually offers more recruiting/jobs/graduate school opportunities.

You may wanna take a look at Michigan’s Engineering Global Leadership program (<a href=“About EGL | Engineering Honors Program”>About Honors | Engineering Honors Program). EGL grads are highly sought after for consulting jobs (<a href=“Career Info | Engineering Honors Program”>About Honors | Engineering Honors Program).

Princeton is Princeton, but unless you come from a wealthy family, save your money and go to Michigan. Princeton is one of just 5 universities that is generally believed to be better than Michigan, but it is not $100k better. Besides, you will have more fun at Michigan! ;)

Not in engineering; only two of your top 5 are better than Michigan in computer engineering.

Congrats for the Bell Scholarship. Remember the difference is $100k, but the total cost for Princeton would be over $200k. I would pick UMich for the deep discount from scholarship for a highly similar in competitiveness program.
