A bunch of other clubs that don’t really make that much of a difference
My essays were very good, I think. I’ll be transferring in the fall semester with the credits of a senior, although this is my second year of college (I intend to do the typical 4 years in college). My classes were all upper level physics and math and I scored well in all of them. Overall, I believe I got in because of my essays, course performance, course rigor, and consistent tangible growth. Good luck!
Hey guys! I applied to transfer into the Spring/Summer semester because the earlier I transfer in the better. Do you guys think this could result in me receiving a decision later than most? I know nobody here will know exactly but just want to know what you guys think. Thanks!
Hey, just wanted to jump in quickly. I’ve been thumbing through this forum the past couple of weeks sort of prowling around because its really the only place to get any sort of signal on the applications right now. I put my transfer app in as a returning student after tons of years off. Won’t even get into my stats because my application is pretty unconventional and probably won’t provide meaningful info for most folks here.
But just wanted to say how heartening it is to see people getting accepted. I thought I’d feel some sort of jealousy or envy, but total opposite - I am so happy to see so many people really achieving something great and starting on a really solid path. For context, I applied back in 2002 as an incoming freshman and was waitlisted and then denied. Always meant to apply as a transfer - just took me 19 years to get there.
Anyhow, best of luck to you all and thanks to everyone for keeping this a really positive, optimistic, hopeful place. Cheers!
Hey everyone! I’m an OOS freshman (from UMD) currently in my second semester, and I applied on Feb 1. I’m still anxiously awaiting my decision, but I figured I’d post my stats:
• Major: Biochemistry
• Current credits: 36, will be 51 by the end of the spring semester (I think ~45 of them will transfer though, not sure)
• HS GPA: our school did percentages, so technically 96 unweighted, 104 weighted (I guess that’s a 4.0)
• HS rigor: Took all AP’s available and other classes were all Honors, had a rigorous schedule all 4 years
• SAT: 1540
• College GPA: 3.85 (all A’s except a B+ in organic chem, hoping the fact that I took orgo as a freshman during Covid makes up for it)
• College EC:
In my college’s Scholar’s program (kind of like an Honors program but with more emphasis on community)
Photography Editor for a school art magazine that focuses on empowering minority creators
Volunteered as a Zoom tutor for elementary students in an impoverished area
American Medical Women’s Association member
Took notes for disabled students
• HS EC: (that I reported)
Summer internship at a hospital for 2 years, worked with oncology pharmacists
Secretary for National Honors Society club
Historian for HOSA club, qualified for states competition
• Awards: President’s Scholarship from UMD, AP scholar with Distinction, AP Scholar with Honor, NHS, Honor Roll, Dean’s List
• LOR: none :,)
• Essays: I’d say they’re a 9/10, but I worked sooo hard on them
60ish Transferable Credits
4.0 GPA
Major: Cog Sci
SAT: 1560
ECs: Research, Internships, and some high school ECs
Notes: Younger applicant only 18 y/o just graduated from HS last year
Hi everyone! I just got accepted in state for fall 2021 earlier! I’m currently a freshman in an in state school who had applied last year and was deferred, then waitlisted, and then rejected. I submitted my app about 12/23 I think and materials accepted like 1/6 I think.
Stats:
SAT: 1280
AP credits: 15
Total credits going into next year: 48
GPA (HS): 3.95 unweighted
GPA now: 3.7
I played tennis in high school and had some volunteering then. I’m biased about my essays but I think they were pretty good. I had 2 letters of rec from high school teachers too. Nothing too special honestly. Wasn’t expecting to get in. I know the waiting sucks (I checked this forum literally 50 times a day and got more and more anxious watching other ppl getting in) but hang in there!
I think I submitted my application on 1/2. I am currently a freshman attending a public university outside of Michigan. I have no Michigan residency. Last year, I was deferred, then waitlisted, and rejected.
AP credits: 27 transferable credit hours
Credits I am expecting to have by the end of my freshman year: 34 credit hours in total
Extracurriculars: In high school and college, I mentioned that I have participated in health-related and research activities. In high school, I did tutoring as well.
For my essays, I was specific about why the University of Michigan would be a good fit for me and how I would contribute to the campus community and the surrounding communities. I didn’t submit any letters of recommendation.
I hope everyone here gets their decisions soon. Good luck!
