Umich full tuition or Maryland Full-ride??

I plan on majoring in political science or public policy so that I can go to law school, or work for the government. I hear that if you go to michigan undergrad its easier to get into their law school, I havn't heard of that about Maryland though.... So which would be better for law school or job opportunities in government or lobbying?

So my tuition is covered at Michigan, but i would have to pay for room and board and stuff like that, so like 10,000 extra per year (unless I move off campus or into a frat).... But at Maryland I got everything covered from scholarships and aid grants.

Me as a person I'm really outgoing and I don't want to be studying all the time, I love watching sports and do like the occasional crazy parties, and would like a place that would accommodate that with a fun college town.

Please give your opinion... Thanks!

IMO, you should go to U-Mich because it’s what you’re looking for in terms of social life.

you think its worth the extra 10K? or is it better for job oppurtunities?

Go to Michigan. 40k more or less total cost for four years is a bargain if you take into consideration everything that is involved. You will enjoy Michigan way more than Maryland.

will I still be able to attend internships in DC in the summer from Michigan as opposed to in state from maryland?

I don’t know about the internships, but I would say to choose UMich. They’re much better than Maryland academically.

go to umich.

I would say University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, though University of Maryland may offer a little more towards social life.

^^^^^^^^Huh?

i mean yea michigan would be better academically, but to get a job in government you have to have experience in internships in DC, so do you think I could get the same internship in DC in the summer from michigan compared to a maryland student?

ann arbor >>>>> college park

“I would say University of Michigan- Ann Arbor, though University of Maryland may offer a little more towards social life.”
^^^^Failpost.

Go to UMich. As an OOS student, you’re paying nearly 1/4th of typical tuition; most people would kill for that kind of deal.

the current majority leader of the house as well as the speaker of the house, nancy pelosi, both were given chances to intern with senators in dc during their time at Maryland.

these people are now huge political figures in dc!

Post this on the Maryland forums as well to see how they respond. Academically, Michigan is better. Socially, I don’t know (I liked both college towns). Sports wise, Maryland is good at b-ball and Mich is traditionally better at football.

And there were never any political figures that went to Michigan, right?

go to michigan.

I posted this on the Maryland forum and they all said go to UMD because of the internships in DC, but Im asking cant i get the same internships in DC in the summer as a Michigan student?

you can get anything a umd person can get and then some

^ sarcasm isnt really needed.

Im suggesting Maryland due to proximity to DC.

Search Wolverine Scholars Program. If you get a 3.8+ at Michigan as an undergrad, you can apply to Umich Law School w/o taking the LSAT.
