Umich Honors vs Brown in Economics/Management

Hi everyone. Which university is better when it comes to Business/Economics regarding these factors:

1, quality of education,

2, chances of getting in top grad school (with equal grades and stuff)

3, and how likely it is to get a good job once graduated.

Thanks!

I doubt that there is a difference in any of the areas you mention. Both universities are very well known, and both have an excellent academic reputation.

The decision to which of these universities to attend would need to be based on other more subjective matters – social, geographic, class size, strength of alumni association, etc.

The US News and World Report rank Brown somewhat higher than Univ. or Michigan, but I would think the Honors privileges would most likely make up for any subjective differences.

Thanks fogcity!

I see. Umich is much larger in size yet Brown is a member of the Ivy League, which university in your opinion has more alumni strength?

Both schools have passionate and enthusiastic alumni and strong alumni connections. There will be more Michigan alums because it is a bigger school. But I would imagine more of them live in the Midwest.

I agree with fogcity that your decision should be based on the obvious differences between the two schools – size (Michigan is huge, Brown is smaller), location (midwest vs. New England), surrounding community (Providence is a small city, not sure how to categorize Ann Arbor since I’ve never been). etc. And money, of course – is one school costing more than the other? Do you need to take out loans for one and not the other?

It seems like one is safe with either one of them. Plus there is always the possibility to transfer later in case I don’t fit. Thanks a lot for your advice, I feel much better now.
