UMich vs CMU

I’m planning to double up in engineering (cheme or meche if CMU, cheme or meche or ece if UMich, wasn’t accepted to ece for CMU) and business for my undergrad.

I’ve narrowed it down to UMich and CMU, and I can’t decide. I haven’t visited either, and I don’t know if I can because time.

Money isn’t a huge factor, but obviously it’s still a factor, albeit much much smaller.

To be honest, the only thing keeping me from CMU is the social scene and environment. I’ve heard that CMU offers more employment opportunities, etc, than Mich, but that it’s social life is lacking, and that guys aren’t very…uh…attractive (which may sound shallow, but could affect relationships/marriage. I only say that because most people I know find their SO in college XD). No sports or many good parties either (play hard work hard, play harder work harder). I don’t know if that’s correct, it’s just what I’ve heard.

Help please?

@BadatDecisions‌ According to my research, which you should take with a grain of salt, I know that UMich and CMU both have great engineering departments. The social scene at CMU will definitely be less vibrant then UMich, especially when it comes to fervor over sports. UMich is a huge state school, however, and you will meet a lot of extremely intelligent people. About attractiveness, I would not know. I am male.

Another thing to note is that if you perform well, UMich has extremely good recruitment opportunities. CMU’s are not drastically better in my opinion. Also, if you plan on doing business, UMich’s Ross is world-class. I think for engineering + business, UMich is unbeatable.

Just my two cents.
