If she got Assured does that mean no POGUE?..
When my son got admitted to UNC 2 years ago he did not receive the honors invitation. While we were sad it did not deter him from going there. You can still take honor classes. Trust me that most of the classes are very challenging and I am actually glad he did not get the honors as he was quite overwelmed the first year.
Has anyone heard about the innovation scholarship?

@nurse001 did your son apply for honors later? I’ve also heard honors is not as helpful at unc as other schools (as majors get priority over honors during class enrollment at UNC)
My DS also got research scholars program. How prestigious is it?
I just got accepted to Assured Admission for Kenan. Has anyone gotten merit money and Assured Admission? The email didn’t suggest any opportunities for merit based aid.
@Asdc4378 No he did not apply later as he was very overwelmed. I will say that when we went to orientation and a presenter told every parent in the room to look around. He said if your child was top 10 in their HS graduating class so is all the other children and just because your child is smart they are average here. Meaning that UNC was on a-whole different level. Found that quite interesting. Didn’t really believe that until his first year. Well that presenter was right.
I believe enrollment goes by credits. So if your child transfers in with AP credits that will be a benefit. My son got a good dorm for this year because he was rooming with a junior who had alot of credits-and got to pick sooner than most!

I just got the Excel email about assured admission to the journalism school and the science and communication dual program! I’m excited, but no email about the study abroad program which is the third one I applied to:/ Is that too like the other programs where it’s just assured admission or is it a select group that I won’t now be able to get into?
@nikkit21 congrats! usually excel only gives out 1 opportunity so you should be extremely proud to get 2!! I think all study abroad emails have gone out and since there are only 40 people selected for that, I think you should take what you got and run with it
How worried should we be if we didn’t get any emails from Excel Carolina? Is there any hope for people like that for getting into those programs in the future?
Oh gotcha, thanks for the info. And I’m sure I’ll find a way to study abroad at some point during college
@RobertoKarlos some of the programs like honors Carolina you can apply for when you’re at unc and I think emails are still going out, so there’s still a chance!
