Hey, there is always grad school.
Congrats to everyone who got in!

i got in. 3.27 from tufts

congrats, vaco, that gives some of us hope for other places...they obviously took into consideration you went to a great school already...

University of Oregon: 3.40
SAT (old): 1380

I'm in, 3.5 from alamance community college.

For those that doubted me when I said decisions would go out this week, sorry I was correct :-)

My daughter got in as an OOS sophmore and is very happy!!!

rejected
2.75 at Rutgers (**** you katrina)
back at tulane
its been a rough year

I have noticed that UNC weights the SAT more heavily than college GPA for transfers. Also, they very much take into account the school you are coming from.

do they really care more about SATs than college gpa? if that's the case, i don't mind being rejected. even though i took the SAT's 4 years ago.. whatever.

I dont know, my SAT score was awful. I know I got in because of my GPA (3.95).

well, i had a 3.85, so i'm pretty sure a good GPA wouldn't guarantee an acceptance.

i think the MAIN thing that brought me down was my "WHY UNC" essay. i literally wrote it in 5 minutes and i honestly don't know much about UNC to this day.

where are you guys finding out if you got in? I applied but can't seem to find any notification...

it's posted online. if you log into your account there should be a link that says "your admission decision is posted", or something like that.

nevermind, i found it. thanks anways

I doubt it's true, I had a 1290 and am finishing up community college. Aside from grades the essay was probably the most important factor.

I think that each piece of the application is important in the decision process. I had a good college GPA (3.88 with some pretty tough classes), terrible HS GPA (I won't even post it), and okay ACT (29 - never took the SAT). I can't imagine that any one factor trumps the others. You just have to present yourself in the best possible light in your essay and make sure that your bestqualities really shine through.
