What is unconventional about your application?

the non profit

The non-profit is great- you should be proud of what you have achieved- but (and I am saying this gently and kindly) it does not make your application unconventional at Vassar. Take a look at their blurb on the class of 2016, which among many impressive students includes 3 people who started non-profits (not to mention 45 with dual citizenship):

[News Archive from Tuesday, September 4, 2012 - Meet the Class of 2016 - - News - Alumnae/i Hub - Vassar College](http://alums.vassar.edu/news/2011-2012/120905-class-2016.html)

So, based on that, you would be a conventional Vassar applicant!

Fine maybe I just say that to get people to read my thread!!!

I think my application is a little unusual because of my poor grades, great SAT scores, and great ECs. I imagine most applicants have more consistency within those three groupings.

Vassar is explicit that they weight the rigor of your course load very heavily, and look especially hard at your senior year. Poor marks first year can be overcome if you are showing evidence of being able to handle a challenging course load in the later years. IMO Vassar seems to be looking for kids who are interested in learning per se. Good luck!
