@stressedactor - By “deferral” do you mean waitlisted? Or rejection?
@stressedactor – Asking because that is a huge difference at UNCSA. The only offer a few waitlist spots. My son had one of them last year. And, now, he is finishing up his first year. A UNCSA waitlist offer is a good thing.
Congrats @DadInTx ! My son is a first year Drama student. We live in Houston.
Still waiting…but financial aid continues to process our paperwork and I was told they keep working on it until a student has been rejected so I guess no news is good news for now. Going to try to take the day off from checking continuously and just enjoy that tonight is my daughter’s last high school opening night! If we get a rejection in her email I think I’ll wait to tell her until Monday. I want her to enjoy every second of this weekend! Hoping for the best news for all of us!
We just got the rejection from Uncsa via email. Congrats to those that got in. So glad the wait is over.
@HopefulMom2020 I am sorry to hear that!
@HopefulMom2020 What does your daughters last name start with? I was told that they are doing it by alphabetical order with last names.
Question for anyone: What is the difference between ‘deferral’ and ‘rejection’, if any? Thank you!
I believe deferral means you are still in the game. They likely still have some spots open or anticipate some spots opening up (some students will decline their acceptance).
UNCSA doesn’t do deferrals for drama. The poster above meant rejection. They accept, waitlist or reject.
Makes sense. Design and Production does deferrals. I guess each school operates independently.
@FutureActress7. My Son’s last name begins with T. There is another young lady in his class - also with last name beginning with T that also got rejection today. We were previously hoping and thinking as well that perhaps it was delayed because of their names being later in the alphabet, but apparently not the case here. Good luck to you. We’re moving forward and hoping for acceptances elsewhere.
Hmmmm…our last name starts with L and we still haven’t heard anything.
Ours starts with O. So unless they are going backwards. We still have heard nothing.
@Medusa29 When did your (son? Daughter?) audition?
He auditioned the 16th of February on campus.
I called admissions earlier about this and was told today people who interviewed in January were being contacted. Next week people from Feb. 2nd will get their decisions, and so on.
@aidenpng I auditioned the first day in January and still haven’t heard anything…
People are getting different answers from different people at uncsa. It’s frustrating!
It depends on the Dept/major a little bit. And then how (when) the admissions Dept decides to send out official notifications.
What may hold true for drama may be different for D&P for example.
Drama just finished auditions last weekend. Seems decisions are rolling out. Best of luck.
