Undecided Engineer - any experiences graduating in 4 years?

Hi everyone, my DS has been accepted at GT 2020 as undecided engineer. We are out of state for GT.

It seems like GT does not have an “official” first year undecided engineering schedule, at least not that we could find. We found the COE1000 class, but nothing more. Looking at the different engineering majors schedules, they have ~ 130 total credits with 16 to 18 credits per semester in order to graduate in 4 years, and many specific major classes already starting in freshman year.

Can anyone share their experience with starting as GT Engineering undecided? Where they able to take use their 1st year to decide and still graduate in 4 years (without paying for extra summers)? Or is it better to pick one major knowing that you will probably need to switch later if you don’t like it?

DS also got invited to Honors program at GT, but looking at the current options for the 15 credits it does not seem like many of them could be reused at the Engineers majors schedule, specially if you already come with APs which you hope to use as electives. Any experiences on doing Engineer + honors program and graduating in 8 semesters?

Any help is appreciated!
