How bad does this look when applying to colleges? I literally have NO clue what I want to major in at all. I don't know my future plans..I'm still undecided completely I feel so lost and I don't want this to hurt my chances just because I don't know what I want to major in. There are so many options and it is crazy to try to narrow them down. Anyone know how I could somehow figure out what I should do?

A helluva lot of people apply as an undecided major. That's what I did and I haven't been rejected yet, and I've heard from five schools.

thanks I'll go ahead and apply as undecided then. i just don't understand how some people already know what they want when they apply to a university.

I think you'll be fine doing that. And I agree with you. As a mom, I find myself astonished whenever I meet or read about a 16/17 year-old who knows what he or she wants to do for the rest of his/her life.

Take time to try new things and figure it out. It's OK.

When we did a tour of high-ranking LACs last spring, one tour guide in particular had all students in that tour go around and say our names, where we were from, and what we wanted to major in. Everyone had an intended major except one guy, who said "My name is John, I'm from Virginia, and I have no idea what I want to major in".

The tour guide said "Fantastic!! That why a liberal arts education would be great for you! You're in the right place."
