Ok, so I was just checking out CC, and I found something called Stats Profiles (which i hadn't used previously at any occasion). I have applied ED I to Hamilton College. I checked out the stats profiles to see what type of candidates are accepted to Hamilton, and now i'm dreading that i've been wayyyyyyyy overconfident to apply to hamilton. So here are my stats:

SAT superscore: 2020(610r 710m 700w-9essay)
Class size: 617
Class rank: Top 5%
GPA: 4
Rigor of course difficulty: Hard
TOEFL: 104
ECA: Volunteered at orphanages.

So here's the thing. After checking out the stats of some hamilton class of 14', I have completely given up even the tiniest speck of hope of getting in, and i'm thinking of preparing an application packet for ED II.

Is anyone on CC who can shine their light on me? To show me that every cloud has a silver lining/calm after the storm etc?

Looking at the College Board profile for Hamilton College, it appears that your combined SATs are about in the middle for Hamilton colleges. Your CR would be in the bottom 25%, though–but I see you took the TOEFL, so they may cut you some slack on that. You have an excellent GPA (assuming that’s unweighted). I wouldn’t despair, but you ought to have a plan B (and a plan C) anyway.

^ I do…well kinda. I’ve EA’d to Sewanee, and thinking ED II at either Lafayette/Gettysburg/Dickinson/FnM. But I looked at the candidates’ stats for the colleges, and its sooo inconsistent. Some have got in with weak stats, and some rejected for high stats. Is it just me or is the US admissions system totally arbitrary?

Anyway, i’ve considered some safetys, and hope i’ll get in.

I know you didn’t get in unfortunately, but I just want to comment that you should never compare yourself to other kids on this site. They have ridiculously high scores for some reason. But the whole process IS arbitrary. So don’t worry, you’ll get in somewhere awesome for you.
