Undergrad Business Degree Looked down on in admissions?

Just a quick question, but is an undergrad business degree looked down on in business school admissions? I know for the most part that it doesn't matter what you major in, as long as, you are able to use your degree to get good work experience. But I've heard rumors that Business Schools don't much prefer those with undergrad degrees in business, because they'd rather teach a clean slate. Is there any truth to this? For what it's worth, the undergrad degree would be from Berkeley. Thanks for the help!

I'm sure they do since most business schools require a series of classes in their MBA programs for non-business majors. More money for them.

Really, it has more to do with diversity and quality of the cohort.

I heard stuff about law schools not liking pre-law majors, but I never heard about undergrad business looked down upon.

^Except there is now pre-law. Or what classes would you consider pre-law? However, there certainly is an UG business program at many schools.

I have gotten the impression that the number of UG business majors differs by different MBA programs. Check out the range of UG business majors over a bunch MBA schools to see any noticeable differences. I know someone who had a theory that Tuck accepted fewer UG business grads than other schools and after getting rejected there twice, applied and was accepted to UChicago instead.

In your case it comes down to your application -- you have to convince them why you need an MBA now even though you already have a business undergrad (yes, there are tons of BBAs in MBA programs, but all of them still had to put together a convincing case that the MBA wouldn't be a waste of time for them purely from a learning standpoint). In other words, you have to convince them that you genuinely want to be there not just purely for the recruiting.

Some schools do have pre-law, in others it's legal studies.

Yeah, they are really going to look down upon an undergraduate business degree from Berkeley. [/sarcasm] Give me a break. Aside from that, there are many far more important application criteria than undergrad major.
