I've been thinking that in case I don't get into the University of Pennsylvania or MIT, I'll have to look for other good colleges for business. My only question is if I'm chosen by Columbia, which only has an economic program, or Cornell, which is only ranked 5th according to Business Week, will that reduce my chances of getting hired by Wall Street? And if I go to Harvard Business, will that put me at a disadvantage to have a PhD from Columbia/Cornell when recruiters compare me to other Harvard Business/Wharton kids with PhDs from Wharton/Sloan? It would really help if somebody were to post a link comparing the number of graduates recruited by Wall Street based on their universities. Thanks :)

Oops, I meant bachelor’s not PhD. :P

What you wrote makes no sense. Harvard only has econ as well at the undergrad level. HBS only offers graduate degrees. There are a lot of threads on the placement on WS by top undergrad feeders in the Investment Banking section, which goes something like this:

HW>PS>Yale, MIT, Dartmouth, Columbia, Duke>UChicago, Brown, Cornell, Northwestern>Stern, etc.
