<p>I was looking into UCONN, which is one of the many schools with a medical college but no pre-med program for undergrad. So what happens then, does your counselor advise you to take all of the classes that a pre-med takes elsewhere?? I realize pre-med isnt a major and its only a set of courses but that set of courses is meant to prepare you for the MCATs/Medical School, so how does it work if a college you want doesnt have a so called "pre-med"? Ive done alot of research into this and ive been told not to limit myself to colleges with pre-meds, but look for colleges with strong science depts. Makes sense. lol So how does it work? <p>Premed courses are just intro bio/physics/chem + orgo and some math. Does your college not have those courses?</p>
<p>I'll put it to you this way, doogie311. Harvard doesn't have a formal "premed program". Yet I think we can all agree that Harvard is fairly successful at getting people into med-school. So I'm with norcalguy when I ask what do you mean when you say your school doesn't have a premed program?</p>
<p>I'm actually going to UCONN next year. They have pre-med advising. What this means is you have an advisor that helps you find medical related things to do, like internships and job shadows. Also they put together all the stuff to be sent to med schools. (ie all the recomenations)</p>
