Undergrad in the US

I am a prospective international undergraduate student.
Can anyone enumerate the advantages of pursuing BTech from the USA than India ?I just wanted to know your opinion guys.
I wish to pursue MS from the US too. As an international student , who has completed graduation from the US, do I need to appear for GRE too ?
Kindly help me out.

It mainly depends on what you’re looking for in a college,US colleges give more flexibility in terms of course choices also allowing you to take up classes that you like regardless of what you major in but It will be cheaper, in india.
US will give allow you get involved more in terms of clubs and volunteer programs and let you grow outside your comfort zone.
as far as hiring goes, a US education does not necessarily mean better job prospects, that depends on the fame of your university and more importantly your scores and personality.
I think you will have to give GRE anyways

@medkid18 I hope you are an international student too and would like to thank you for sharing your opinion.
Leaving aside the monetary constraint, how will pursuing BS/BEng from an US University give me an edge over an IITian applying for the same masters course (MS) in the US ? (other parameters like grades,gpa being constant) I would be happy if you could sketch out a more descriptive answer.
Thanks

yes, I too am an international applicant. Honestly being an IITian does you good if you’re at the top of your class,If not I feel that people just burn out over there because you will always feel inadequate in some sense, I’ve got some friends like that.
because recuriters will ask you the reason for your mediore results and if they feel that you just could’nt compete with others that would show that you can not handle high pressure situation.
I had a friend apply to same colleges as me with better SAT scores than me who got rejected because she was too academically concentrated and had Zero extra - curriculars,so this goes to prove that universities there unlike India care about more than just your scores.Your personality,work ethic, interests go a long way too regardless of it being under grad or post grad.
Your success is highly variable in terms of the exposure you choose to have for your self, In the US rest assured you will have a lot more exposure and personality build up in terms of internship and other life skills than you would in india,
Like I said its very variable if you could tell me what universities you are interested in,I could give you a better weighted opinion.

@medkid18 that is an answer which resolves my residual doubt. Thank You !

@piku1998 @medkid18 Studying in the United States of America is undoubtedly the best thing one can do for themselves for their futures and their careers. The U.S. can give you opportunities that are impossible anywhere else in the world. America is the land of opportunities, freedom, equality, exposure, and success, and that is only getting better from here on out. Regardless of the University you attend in the United States, you can achieve on a greater level then you would have ever been able to achieve on in India. I hope you decide to attend college in the United States.

@Starforward Let us see ! Have applied to a few colleges. Still awaiting a decision.
Thank You for sharing your opinion with us.

@piku1998
PM me i might be able to help!

@piku1998 If you don’t mind I would love to know what places you applied to and what’s your SAT/ACT score.

@medkid18 I will PM you

A lot of people having been lately advising me to apply to Canada as well, especially after the election results were out. I am glad to receive their suggestions .But guys wouldn’t it be fair if someone could itemize the disadvantages of pursuing BS from Canada than the USA. I mean we should also assess the flip side of the story.
Any amount of input is encouraged.

GRE is mandatory even for US citizens wishing to pursue masters.

But if you wanna pursue Masters from the same university that you got your undergrad from, many allow you to be directly admitted without having to go through the application process.

UT Dallas allows you to do so. They even have an accelerated program where you can get masters in just one extra year.

UMass Amherst has the option. If you have a 3.8+ GPA in your undergrad in UMass, they let you do your Master for free at UMass. I’m not sure. Check it out.

There are similar opportunities in many universities. However, if you wish to go to different place, then you’ll have to write GRE and go through the application process.
