Undergrad Major - The Catch 22

Clearly one needs work experience to get into a decent MBA program. For an aspiring B-schooler, is it not risky to major in philosophy, English, etc. when one considers the job prospects for a BA in one of these fields? Economics seems like a much safer bet. But what if one really wants to major in philosophy? How do you deal with the Catch 22 of having a much harder time finding good pre-MBA work experience for a few years? Sure the folks at Ivies don’t have this issue, but think about someone at a strong state school or even a place like Colgate, Tufts, etc.
Thanks
