<p>But Harvard has an ENORMOUS academic reputation relative to Berkeley, so once again, the gap closes. It's not a coincidence that it is recognized as the no1 university in the world (though rankings are not 100% accurate). On the other hand, Harvard is also known in the for many years for "slight" grade inflation in comparison to some of its counterparts like John Hopkins, MIT... The trend of grade inflation had stopped recently at Harvard. As someone said, at Harvard, it's hard to get an A but equally hard to get an F. Compared to MIT, a school in the same orbit, Harvard is grade inflated (assuming that a student at MIT is as academic as students at Harvard, sth I think as reasonable when you compare average SAT scores)</p>
<p>The point wasn't to discuss Harvard. The point was that by some measures, Berkeley is actually quite grade inflated.</p>
