when i checked harvard's website, i could not seem to find this department. can anyone tell me how the undergraduate business program at harvard works?

Yeah, that's really strange that collegeboard would have that- Harvard does NOT have an undergrad business program. You can't have a concentration in business, there's no undergrad business school- in fact, there aren't really any management, accounting or finance classes. (There is, of course, a Harvard Business School, just nothing for undergrads.)

People that plan to business school after they graduate choose any of a number of concentrations, from economics to English to applied math. No undergrad business concentration, though.

I've heard that there's many EC's that more than make up for the lack of a business major.

thats terrible..anyone else have something to say out there?

Some people regard Economics (Harvard's most popular concentration) as Harvard's version of a Business concentration. It's not quite the same thing though.

I believe that the only Ivy League school to offer a true undergrad Business major is Penn.

Economics isn't really similar to business at all.

Still, bigboy- I wouldn't characterize it as "terrible" at all. Really- YOU DON'T NEED TO MAJOR IN BUSINESS JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO GO INTO BUSINESS. Harvard graduates still get into the top graduate business programs in the country, and they get to use their undergraduate years for another area they're interested in- whether it's economics, art history, or whatever. In fact, it may well be better to take a concentration like applied math or computer science- they're becoming more useful in the business world.

If you have your heart set on a business major, though, Harvard isn't the school for you. It's that simple. Apply to any of the many fantastic business programs out there, be it at Penn or NYU or MIT or whatever.

i meant that what the collegeboard is presenting is terrible. but thanks for the info. i will most likely be applying to NYU, Penn and MIT are very high reaches for me. i know..and i was thinking of Harvard ;</p>
