I’m shocked nobody has mentioned Kelley at Indiana University. It is consistently ranked as a top 10 undergrad business school, and is ranked number one by employers (according to Bloomberg). Indiana is also pretty generous with merit aid, and they superscore. Definitely take a look at Kelley.
@jpamsel alright, thank you!
Btw I got a 33 now.
I got a 33 as well, and got 15k in merit aid from IU with grades that weren’t necessarily spectacular in comparison to what you see usually on CC.
Are you a senior in high school? Do you live in the US
Connecticut College
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Marist College
U of San Diego
If money is tight, consider SUNY-University at Buffalo. Also, if you broaden your criteria you might consider these colleges in the Midwest;
Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago
Ohio Wesleyan University, which is near Columbus, the largest city in Ohio
Macalester College near Minneapolis
Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland
You might get additional consideration for financial aid at STEM schools like IIT and CWRU; they want more female applicants.
@jpamsel Congrats!
@mom2collegekids I live in the US and am Colorado resident. However, I’ve already graduated high school and am on a gap year.
@LakeWashington thanks for your suggestions.
I’d add University of Michigan to your list. Ann Arbor is one of the best college towns in the US, and they have good FA even for out of state students, and an good econ and excellent business school. You might need to increase your ACT score a bit for a reasonable shot at admission, (the average is around 30-33) but Michigan cares a lot more about GPA than test scores. I’d still apply.
I think you have a compelling story for pre-admission to Ross (the Michigan business school) . There is a large start-up community and many dedicated student incubators. If you want to go corporate, many recruiters from top companies seek UM grads.
Lots of sports and recreational activities in the area too.
There are usually about 50-60 or so German speaking students at any given time, plus a large German & Swiss community in the area due to the auto industry, major suppliers (e.g. Bosch), medical/pharma and the music school. The area was settled by Germans too, Lutheran services were given in German until the 1970’s. The local deli even stocks bündnerfleisch and raclette cheese if you are feeling homesick! Plus Michigan is the #1 state for micro-brews (though some may dispute the exact ranking) , there are some amazingly good brew-pubs with over 1000 beer varieties produced in the state.
Are you also applying to ETH? That also might be a good option, it is well known and respected in the US too.
@TooOld4School
Thanks a lot! I’ve already added U Michigan to my college list, even though I wasn’t aware of the German/Swiss prevalence around Ann Arbor.
No, I’m not applying to ETH Zurich. I am aware of its strong programs and good reputation, but it doesn’t offer economics, finance, or business majors.
Olin at Wash U
Why not San Diego State?
@LBad96 OOS Tuition plus the ACT scores range from 21-26 and I’d like to be in a challenging environment with mainly high-achievers
…but you have UC Berkeley on your list? That school’s OOS tuition is insane.
@LBad96 UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business is worth much more money in my and my parents’ eyes. I’m also applying to outside scholarships
@nadinem123 well, can’t argue with that.
