I graduated from Temple U and have a B.A. in History. I’ve applied to grad school for Museum Studies, but am unlikely to get accepted this year. I want to earn a certificate in Non-Profit Management to increase my chances in the future. I’m debating whether a short (a few months), online graduate certificate would be more beneficial than a 30-credit undergrad certificate. The online graduate program would be much cheaper, but I’m not sure how much I would learn on that set-up (but it is GRADUATE). On the other hand, the undergrad program is a classroom setting and a full two semesters (but is five times as much and is UNDERGRADUATE). Will the admissions office/future employers take an undergrad certificate more seriously than an online grad certificate? Or will they dismiss such a thing? I don’t know and am hoping you guys can help!
What matters is what potential employers think. So get in touch with the placement and alumni offices at Temple, and ask for contacts in the field you want to work in. Then ask those real people whether they care at all about non-profit management certificates.
