What are best known programs in New York state for someone who wants to get into cybersecurity field with an undergraduate degree? Are there any CUNY or SUNY schools that have knows programs for this? Some have minors/specializations but not sure how well reputable those are in terms of finding internships/employment.
Any feedback on cyber possibilities at SUNY Stony brook, Albany or Buffalo, and CUNY John Jay or Baruch? What about SUNY Bing?
Some private colleges have dedicated undergrad degrees, like RIT and Marist, not sure about how Marist fares with job prospects in the field, never heard of it before. RPI does not seem to have a dedicated specialization, but it is a strong engineering school.
Stevens in NJ is our top choice, but we need more options within 4 hours away from NYC.
I don’t know much about the private schools you listed, but out of the SUNYs, definitely SUNY Albany is by far the best known for cybersecurity. They have an entire college called the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security, and Cybersecurity (CEHC). It was the first college of its kind in the nation when it was introduced and is highly prestigious. I am a student in Albany’s business school and know many happy students in the CEHC school, many of whom actually pay out-of-state tuition (from NJ and other states) for their unique programs. You can major or minor (or both) in this school. You won’t find anything else like this in the SUNY system, or at most private schools either. You may qualify for merit scholarship as well if you have good grades on top of the already great value Albany is as a public school.

@BusinessBoy678 Great feedback! Thanks for sharing.
@ucbalumnus I saw program description for cybersec courses at Stony Brook. I was looking more for a feedback/inside information on how it compares to SUNY Albany or others in terms of getting job/internships in the cyber field. LIke SB computer science program as a whole is ranked much higher than Albany, but Albany has more specific cyber program. How does one chose?
Both are safety/target schools for us grades and stats-wise.
The Albany program described at https://www.albany.edu/undergraduate_bulletin/cehc_bulletin_information.html is a lot different from CS and looks like more of a combination of general (not necessarily computer) security stuff and IT-based computer security stuff.
