Can someone explain the procedure for this? My university is on a 4.0 maximum scale (no extra credit for A+, although they are given frequently). Does the recalculation mean that all law schools may calculate a different GPA than the one from my university, and which GPA is used by admissions?

You send your transcripts to a central service known as LSDAS. They recalculate your GPA according to their formulas. (Among other changes, they counts +/- grades as .33, including the A+ at 4.33.) This is the GPA that law schools will use.

Thank you for the information
