Hi.

I'm going to cornell this fall as math/econ double major. If I'm planning on going into finances/ibanking, is it worth it to transfer to AEM so that I do a math/AEM dual degree?

I think AEM offers more classes that are oriented towards finances and i-banking than Econ but does it make a lot of difference really?

Thanks!

Strictly speaking to majors, IB cares much more about GPA than major chosen as long as you have a solid rationale for choosing your major (if outside of a business field). For IB, the skills and knowledge can be taught making an accounting or finance major not necessarily a prerequisite for entry - especially from a target school.

Go with what you are most interested in and what you believe you can attain the highest GPA in. PM me if you have any other questions.

IBanker

What really matters are the recruiting resources. Will AEM open up better opportunities? I.e. do some companies recruit solely from AEM? Find that out.

D is graduating from Cornell this month and starting at a BB in July. She is not AEM, she’s ILR. She did take an accounting, finance and calculus class. She also had several statistics and many economics classes. She is also an Information Science minor–so she knows her way around computers!

And, as stated above, she has a high gpa.

Cornell is recruited by most of the IB firms. Make yourself standout–high gpa, classes like I mentioned above, ec’s that show something about yourself.
