I heard from somebody that I need to interview if I want to get into USC Marshall undergrad, is this true? Thanks for the responses.
Absolutely not, you do not have to interview to get accepted. From the website:
“Admission interviews are an optional part of the undergraduate application process. You may interview on campus or off campus in many cities across the country. These half-hour one-on-one sessions will give you the chance to discuss your academic goals with an admission officer.
On average, less than 20 percent of prospective students choose to interview with us. History has shown no appreciable difference in the admission rates of students who are not interviewed.”
Interviews can be risky or rewarding - if you interview well, maybe it would give you a plus on your application. But if you don’t and it is a disaster - some get so nervous, I know one girl that started crying she was so stressed about an interview - then it can be costly.
If you think you can positively present yourself, it won’t hurt and may help, but in no way should you feel you have to in order to get in.
thank you so much @CADREAMIN
One exception might be for the World Bachelor in Business program, which states, “At the discretion of the admission committee, personal interviews may be required for admission consideration.”
I was admitted to world bachelor of business (WBB) and we all had to do a “video interview” for our applications. You sit in front of your webcam and answer questions that have been pre recorded, you aren’t even talking to an actual person.
