I want to become a surgeon. Either LASIK Surgeon or Neurosurgeon (both interest me quite a lot). My problem is that both Freshman and Sophomore caused me to have my now 2.5 GPA Cumulative GPA. I want to go to Medical School and do my own private practice. I'm hispanic however I don't think Affirmative Action would help in my case (father makes around 240,000, I live in a good neighborhood, go to a good school).

I heard that if you're trying to do a private practice, it doesn't really matter what college/medical school you go to. However, I also heard that with specialties, people usually like to know that their surgeon went to HMS and Yale undergrad, something to that extent. I'm a hard worker, there was just other family instances that caused this slope in my GPA. Would it really matter what undergrad I go to? because i'm aiming to get around 4.0 Junior and Senior year because i'm transferring to a easier public school, but i'm not sure how much of a dent that would put in the Cumulative GPA.

I'm asking this because I mean, being a surgeon is probably one of the most interesting things anyone can do. I'd love to be a physician one day, that's a dream come true for all Pre-Med students.

I'm contemplating whether or not to go to Howard University and go to their medical school because they have a lower GPA entrance (idk, 3.4ish for MS?) and I'm not sure that with my grades, I'll be able to get into a top 20 medical school anyway from a non-presigious college/university because of Grade Weighting (Harvard's B- is an A- in the adcom's eyes). What are some colleges and universities that I should be checking out with my grades that would give me a decent chance at becoming a LASIK Surgeon or a Neurosurgeon? And also I don't want to go through all those years of schooling to not get recompensed financially like the averages of both professions earn.

Medicine/money are irrevocably intertwined and recompense is near the forefront of many Medical Students minds, with the love for the profession and helping others first of course.

I also live 15 minutes from Rutgers University, if that's a suggestion... And i'm taking the "Ultimate SAT" 3 month program from "The Princeton Review" to get at least a 2000 on the SAT.
