Hi All,
I am senior in high school deciding which college to apply to. I am really interested in getting involved in research because I hope to one day go to graduate school. I visited Cornell twice and really loved it. I am planning to apply ED to CAS. My other top choice us Michigan. I was hoping you all could tell me about the research opportunities for undegrads at Cornell, and if you know about Michigan, too, it would be great if you could compare and contrast them. I am mostly interested in chemistry and engineering research. How easy is it for undergrads to get into research? Can you start as a freshman? Is research paid or unpaid? Do you think it is feasible to work in a lab for 3-4 years and be able to publish a paper or have your name on a paper? Is it possible to conduct a research? When you start doing research is it under a professor or grad student? Is there an emphasis on getting undergrads to do research? How do professors feel about undergrads doing research? Any information you can give me about research would help. Thank you so much!
