I recently received an unconditional offer to study history at the University of St Andrews. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that first year students study three different subjects. How do I choose the other two if I only got admitted to one? And can I pursue a joint honours down the road if I decide that it is what I want to do? Thank you!
Also, does UofSA send acceptance letters in the mail?
You can choose the other 2 from the course catalog. There aren’t many sections of a class so if your history class meets at 11am and Spanish does as well, then Spanish is out because there’s only that one section.
You can do double honours but you must take both subjects first and second year. Also both subjects must be in the faculty you applied to, which be the Faculty of Arts for history; for example you couldn’t double honours in history and physics.

Congrats on your offer! Will you accept? To answer your question - Yes - received a paper snail mail letter and brochure about 2 weeks later.
